Natural Herbal Cold and Flu Remedies

There are a lot of natural herbal cold remedies. Most of them are used in our daily diet. But sometimes we are not aware of this. Here are some natural herbal remedies for cold.

• Onions especially, fresh have high antibacterial qualities.
• Eat more than usual lemons and oranges. They are a great source of vitamin C. Rose hips in rose hip tea, syrup, jam contain more than 20 times the amount of vitamin C found in citrus fruits.
• Honey is perfect cold remedy. Put it into tea and drink.
• Horseradish counteracts cold by generating lots of heat. A daily horseradish sandwich is the best cold remedy.
• Prunes are rich in iron, vitamins A and B, fiber, phosphorus and calcium.
• Garlic considered as a natural antibiotic for centuries.
• Natural remedy for sore lips is honey. Put some honey on the lips at a bed time.

Home made lemonade for cold treatment:
Take one glass. Put 1 large spoonful of honey, half of lemon sliced into thin slices and 1 cinnamon stick. Squeeze the remaining half of lemon, and 1 more lemon into the glass. Fill with hot water, stir, and serve to the sick person with the glass wrapped in a napkin.

How to avoid colds and flu
Cold is the most dangerous at the cold season. If you don’t want to get sick you have to follow these simple strategies to keep you healthy.

Drink plenty of liquids, especially fresh pure quality water.

Don't shake hands or touch surfaces and then bring your fingers to your nose or face. Colds are only caught from other people. Don't bite your nails because it spreads germs (never, not just in cold season).

Wash your hands often, with lots of soap and lots of water! Don't share washcloths or towels. Disposable tissues are preferable.
Eat lots of veggies and grains which cleanse your system, fruits with high concentration of vitamin C.
Go to bed early. Get plenty of sleep.
Don't share food or drinks, even a taste.
Cut use of sugar and alcoholic drinks.
Hug instead of kissing with friends or family members.
In general: eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water or teas, do not lie down on the damp earth, nor overheat yourself; change your clothes according to the weather.

Cough Remedies
Here we would like to share following herbal remedies. They can provide a huge relief from a cough. Coughs can be really annoying especially when you're going to sleeping.
A simple recipe will help you to sleep well: put 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon black pepper and into a mug. Add in boiling water and let steep. The pepper will settle to the bottom. Sip, as needed.
Lemon juice, sweetened with loaf or crushed sugar
The root of sweet flag sliced or powdered
Mullein flower tea.
Catnip tea helps reduce mucus.
Hot and spicy foods are not recommended.
